This piece was created as a way to communicate my experience with depression, using fabric to embody the sluggish weight of that period while transforming the cartridge pleat into patterns that reflect emotional complexity and fluctuating states of mind. Through experimentation with placement, stitching, and form, I discovered a new comfort with the sewing machine as a medium, allowing the work to evolve into an independent sculptural piece that opened pathways for future projects exploring color and imagery.
